Students learn in many different ways, therefore, Year Two year groups have a focus on multiple intelligences. Learning opportunities are created to enrich the student’s understanding of the world around them. Some have included students:
- making aboriginal musical instruments such as tapping sticks and didgeridoos as they listen to Aboriginal storytellers, and developed their appreciation of other cultures.
- looking at the importance of water in their lives for survival, fun and their responsibility towards conserving our limited water.
- running excitedly to the deep end of the pool for their swimming lessons;
- ‘showing their style’ during their social following dancing lessons;
- participating in field trips around our beautiful school designed to locate and observe natural and man-made features in the local environment; and
- going on a journey of celebrations, looking at the importance of Christmas and other celebrations around the world.
As part of our Pastoral Care program we instil in students the responsibility for their own actions and behaviour. Through positive reinforcement we also encourage students to work towards becoming independent Christian Learners.
