The community of St Brigid’s College is devoted to the challenge of making our School a wonderful and safe learning environment that promotes self-confidence and a graciousness that will enable our students to maximise their potential and make a difference to their local and global community.
In Year 7 students are invited to determine how they can begin to contribute as responsible leaders in the school, the family and the wider community and make a commitment as young adults to their faith and service of others. This is celebrated through the Sacrament of Confirmation.
The transition from Primary school to Secondary school is both exciting and scary for many of our girls ~ and their parents. Staff members at St Brigid’s are familiar with these transitional concerns, and organise orientation activities, use middle schooling strategies and nurturing residential care to reduce fears and maximise learning from this transition.
Belonging to the community is vitally important. In our community every student participates in a range of activities and experiences that develop strategies for building successful relationships, study and time management skills, confidence in their own skills and talents, and plan events they can help to make a difference to the lives of others. Year 9 is the year for challenges, and its climax is an exciting camp which tests students, physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.
This approach is very holistic, it aims to provide our students with the necessary resources and skills, which will enable them to become life-long learners, and it will prepare our girls for the challenging demands of life in the third millennium.
