Tiny Mic Ministry Launches at SBC
Tiny Mic Ministry (TMM) has hit the ground running across the SBC campus this term. A brand-new initiative by Year 12 Leaders, Anja H (the spokesperson), Serena T (content developer) and Olivia R (fundraising & engagement officer). Tiny Mic Ministry is a 2024 Ministry initiative aimed at engaging more young people to be involved in fundraising events that better the lives of people less fortunate than ourselves. Conceptualised by Anja (inspired by a little bit of online shopping where she spotted the said Tiny Mic), the idea behind TMM was stemmed from the notion that people are less inclined to donate money when they don’t understand where the money is going. What better way to bring it to life but with some vibrant roving reporting around campus. As a Mercy school, St Brigid’s has a long history of providing assistance to our brothers and sisters in Australia and overseas. As the world around us changes, the ways we engage in raising funds and awareness needs to evolve. Tiny Mic Ministry aims to utilise the expansive platform of social media to raise awareness and much needed funds, for various initiatives throughout the year at SBC, in a fun and engaging way. We’ll be looking forward to more fourth-wall breaking news brought to us by our students behind Tiny Mic Ministry. Keep an eye on the SBC socials on Facebook and Instagram for more Tiny Mic Ministry videos and reels!

SBC Embraces Global Education with Brazilian Students
In January this year, a remarkable journey began for a cohort of 1000  Brazilian students as they embarked on a  five-month ‘Winning the World’ educational exchange in various countries. 500 students were selected to explore opportunities in Australia, with a notable contingent of 100 finding themselves welcomed to Western Australia. St. Brigid’s College was selected to host nine students for six months, of which these students have since immersed themselves in our College and our Boarding community.  Over the past seven weeks, they have embraced their Australian experience with boundless enthusiasm, finding particular joy in the charming presence of our iconic kangaroos and koalas. This cultural exchange not only enriches academic pursuits but also fosters lasting friendships and provides our students with a deeper appreciation for the diverse tapestry of our global community.

From The Principal – SBC College Newsletter, Term 1 Week 6
Dear Parents, Friends, Staff and Students of St Brigid’s College, This morning as I arrived on Campus just after 7.00a.m., I was greeted by a lovely vibe of activity. Parents, staff and students were gathered near the pool erecting gazebos, whilst others were delivering fresh fruit in preparation for a day of competitive fun. The Year 12 girls were being dropped off at the College or were parking their cars for an early breakfast at the Boarding House, whilst other students were arriving for early morning clubs and groups. The vibrancy of our community was fully exposed as we prepared for another wonderful day at St Brigid’s College. To read this week’s newsletter in full, please click here.

International Women’s Day 2024
Today, is International Women’s Day and to celebrate the Day, the Year 12 Class of 2024 enjoyed a cooked breakfast in the Boarding House. The keynote speaker this year was Ms Bianca Pietralla, a current parent and graduate of the Class of 1997. Ms Pietralla is the Chief Executive of the St John of God Foundation, which is the philanthropic arm of St John of God Health Care – one of Australia’s leading Catholic health care and community service providers. Ms Pietralla’s address was given from the heart and was exceptionally moving as she shared her own story of empowerment and perseverance. Speaking to a room filled with the young women of the future, Bianca shared her very personal story of her journey in life. Bianca was inspirational, motivational and empowering. She shared her ‘Top 5 Tips’ for achieving success: Be authentic Build resilience Take risks (sensible ones) Find your impact Feel good (seek moments of joy) Our young leaders have been very busy creating videos – as a group and also in collaboration with the Leaders from Mazenod College. From The Principal – SBC Newsletter Term 1, Week 5
We’ve reached the midway point of Term 1 and it has been five weeks of multiple activities, lessons and as always with more to look forward to at St Brigid’s. Today members of our College staff gathered for professional development whilst our students from K to 12 enjoy a long weekend. The greatest impact on a child’s learning is the teacher, and the continual commitment to building the capacity of staff will ensure that St Brigid’s College offers an elite educational programme for all students. Our priority at the College is to ensure that there are high levels of learning, every lesson, every day. Our students are encouraged to be active learners, ensuring that they are working as hard as our teachers in the classroom. You can read more here about all the things we’ve accomplished this week at St Brigid’s.
